encent QQ, generally referred to as QQ, is a free instant messaging computer program in China. As of 30 September 2011, there were 711.7 million active user accounts for QQ IM,.[1] The number of simultaneous online QQ accounts exceeded 100 million.[2] In November 2012, QQ.com ranked 9th overall in the Alexa Internet rankings just behind Twitter.[3] Up to 20 November 2012, the highest numbers of online users is 176,375,723.[4] The program is maintained by Tencent Holdings Limited (SEHK: 0700), owned in part by the South African multinational company Naspers.[5] Besides the chat feature, QQ had also developed other features including games, virtual pets, ringtone downloads, blogs, etc.
